Prof. Tibor Szilvási

Prof. Tibor Szilvási is Assistant Professor and graduate program coordinator in Chemical and Biological Engineering at The University of Alabama, where his group designs functional materials through computer simulation — catalysts that turn feedstocks into higher-value chemicals, surfaces relevant to energy storage and sensing, and chemistries for polymer waste recycling. He received the American Chemical Society Catalysis Science and Technology Division Early Career in Catalysis Award in 2026 and an NSF CAREER Award in 2024.
He is a co-author on the glycerol etherification study. Pairing what we measure in the reactor with what computation says is happening inside the pore is one of the most useful things that can happen to an experimental result, and I am grateful for that collaboration.
