Prof. Jason E. Bara
Co-author
University Distinguished Research Professor · Chemical and Biological Engineering, The University of Alabama
Prof. Jason E. Bara was honoured by the University of Alabama Board of Trustees as a University Distinguished Research Professor in 2026. He holds a B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder, and is recognised internationally for the design and synthesis of advanced polymers and composites based on ionic liquids, with applications spanning gas separation membranes, water purification and 3-D printable elastomers. He has published more than 110 peer-reviewed papers and holds ten U.S. patents.
Prof. Bara is a co-author on the glycerol etherification work, including the manuscript now in revision at the Journal of Catalysis. Having someone with his depth in separations and molecular design read our chemistry made the work sharper than it would otherwise have been, and I am grateful for the time he gave it.

Working on something that overlaps?
If your research touches the same questions, I would like to hear about it — whether that is a joint paper, a shared sample set, or a conversation about where the work is going.
